Current Rule Proposals


This is the list of proposals to be voted on for the 2017 WMFFL season. If you would like to suggest a rule proposal, you may do so on the proposals page. The part of each proposal that appears in Italics is what effect this proposal will have on the ruleset, if passed.

Proposal 2015.2 - League Champion Renames Toilet Bowl Loser
Sponsor: Tom Marsh and Josh Utterback
Status: Passed, 7-2, 1 no vote
At the end of the season the League Champion can rename the Toilet Bowl loser's team. They have to keep this name until they either make the playoffs, lose the Toilet Bowl again or change owners.

Update rule III.E to read:
E. The two last place teams in each division with the worse records will play in week 15 for the Toilet Bowl
    1. The loser of the Toilet Bowl will have their team renamed by the League Champion
    2. The team must keep their new name until one of the following occurs
        a. The team qualifies for the playoffs
        b. The team changes owners
        c. The team loses the Toilet Bowl again and gets renamed by the Champion

Proposal 2016.4 - Pay by the Draft or Don't Play

Status: Rejected, 4-5, 1 abstain
Any owner that hasn't paid by draft day will not be allowed to play.

Update rule IX.A.1 to read:
1. Failure to pay the entry fee by the date of the draft will make an owner inelgible to play that season.

Proposal 2017.1 - Increase Draft Time
Sponsor: Josh Utterback
Status: Passed, 8-2
Increase the time each pick adds to the draft clock to 45 seconds.

In rule VII.B.2 change 30 seconds to 45 seconds

Proposal 2017.2 - Unpaid Teams Can't Purchase Transactions
Sponsor: Josh Utterback
Status: Passed 7-0, 3 No Votes
Make it so that teams that have not yet paid their entry fee are not allowed to purchase extra transactions.

Add rule IX.C.4 to read:
4. No team that has failed to pay their entry fee may purchase extra transactions

Proposal 2017.3 - Add Game Planning
Sponsor: Josh Utterback
Status: Passed 6-1, 1 abstain, 2 No Votes
Make it so that teams can game plan for their opponents. A team can name one player on their roster and one on their opponent, that they game plan for. The player on their team that they have game planned around will earn double points. The player on the other team that they have game planned around will only earn hald of their points. If both teams game plan for the same player then they cancel each other other. All game planning must be done before Sunday kickoffs and will be held secret until that time.

Add rule V.D to read:
D. Every week each team may optionally name one player on their team and one player on their opponent's team that they will game plan for.
    1. The player on their team that is game planned for will have their score doubled.
    2. The player on their opponent's team that is game planned for will have their score halved, with fractions rounded up.
    3. If both teams game plan for the same player then there will be no impact on their score
    4. If a player is game planned for and that player is not on the activation roster, then the game planning will have no impact
    5. Game planned players must be named no later than the earlier of the kickoff of that player's game or 12:55 pm on Sunday of the week in question.
    6. Each team's game planned players will not be publically revealed until 1:00pm on Sunday.

Proposal 2017.4 - Decision on 10 or 12 Years

Status: Withdrawn when two owners were found (vote was 2-1 in favor of 12 at the time)
Decide between dropping to 10 teams or staying at 12 teams

If 10 teams wins:
Update I.A to change twelve to ten
Update I.B changing three to two

Proposal 2017.5 - Mandatory Realignment
Sponsor: Tom Marsh
Status: Rejected, 4-5
Every three years realign the divisions based upon team's records over the previous three seasons

Add rule I.C reading:
C. The divisions will be realigned every three seasons
    1. Every team will be ranked based upon their regular season records over the previous three years
        a. In the event of ties they will be broken in the following manner, all based on previous three years
            i. Most playoff appearances
            ii. Most championships
            iii. Fewest Toilet Bowl appearances
            iv. Most points scored
            v. Random selection
    2. Teams will then be placed in divisions using the following order
        a. The teams ranked #1, #6, #7 and #12 will be placed in the first division
        b. The teams ranked #2, #5, #8 and #11 will be placed in a second division
        c. The remaining teams will be in the third division

Proposal 2017.6 - Negative Gameplan Scores Not Halved
Sponsor: Tom Marsh
Status: On Ballot
Eliminate halving of negative scores.

Add rule V.D.2.a that reads:
a. No player that scores negative will have their score halved.
